From bookbinding to bandages, t-shirts, couches and tire cording, cotton is one of the most versatile and widely used materials in the world. Today’s cotton is exposed to many environmental and labor risks, produced through varying models with different environmental and labor trade-offs, and subject to complex global trading, price volatility, and multiple regulatory schemes. From BCI to Fair Trade to organic certifications, many initiatives are working to address the situation – but managing these variables toward a transparent, just, sustainable supply chain is no simple task. Join us for a session which will provide clarity on a complex topic and explore potential pathways for the future.
Scheduled Speakers
- Subindu Garkhel, Senior Cotton & Textile Lead, Fairtrade
- Noah Walker, Director, Product and Business Development, Indigo Carbon
